At Karma Kids, we believe the preschool years are about so much more than learning letters and numbers. They're a time to build confidence, curiosity, kindness, and a lifelong love of learning.
Our preschool for children ages 3–5 offers a warm, nurturing environment where every child is truly known. With small class sizes, experienced teachers, and a mindfulness-based approach, we help children grow socially, emotionally, physically, and academically at their own pace.
Through hands-on learning, creative exploration, movement, outdoor adventures, yoga, and purposeful play, children develop the skills they need for kindergarten—and for life. Our goal is simple: to help every child become a confident learner, a caring friend, and a "Good Human in Training."

We intentionally help children become independent thinkers who can problem-solve, communicate, build resilience and life skills that will serve them well long after preschool. 🎨 Play-based, hands-on learning experiences that spark curiosity. Our activities aren't pulled from a template—they're thoughtfully created by experienced educators who know children and understand that every child learns differently.

AM Preschool
8:30 AM – 12:30 PM
A joyful morning filled with learning, creativity, movement, mindfulness, and meaningful friendships.
PM Preschool
12:30 PM – 4:30 PM
Continue the day with lunch, enrichment activities, outdoor play, rest time, and opportunities to build independence and confidence.
*AM, PM and Full Day Options Are Available.

WHO WE ARE
Samantha Lock-Owner
The Studio was created by Samantha Lock, Studio Owner and childhood education leader with over 30 years of experience working with children and families. Samantha spent 11 of those years with Dare County Schools, where she served as Administrator of the After School Enrichment Program, helping develop engaging programs that support the whole child.
Samantha is a CPD Certified Mindfulness & Meditation Teacher, RYT Certified Yoga Teacher, and North Carolina Certified Child Care Administrator with degrees in English and Child Development. She is the author of the Karma Kids Taking Shape Mindfulness Curriculum, a program designed to help children build confidence, emotional awareness, and healthy life skills through movement and mindfulness. She is also a certified Move With Me Yoga Adventures Instructor, American Red Cross Instructor, and Founder/Executive Director of OBX GO FAR, a local nonprofit running and character-building program dedicated to childhood obesity prevention and healthy lifestyle development. Through this work, Sam has been helping kids and families GO FAR for more than 17 years. Samantha’s passion is creating nurturing, joyful environments where children feel safe, supported, and inspired to grow — socially, emotionally, and physically. The Studio reflects her lifelong commitment to helping every child develop confidence, kindness, resilience, and a love for learning. |
